RECOMMENDATION:
HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER 0
MARCH 23, 2004
STOP SIGN INSTALLATIONS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS
City Council consider adopting an ordinance amending Chapter 23, Traffic, Section 23-
30, Stop Intersections, approving the installation of stop signs at various locations in the
City of Grapevine, and take any necessary action.
BACKGROUND:
Over the past two years, final plats have been approved and recorded at the County for
the following subdivisions.
• Lakeview Estates
• Savannah Court Addition
• Johnson Meadows Addition
• Meritage Addition
• Silverlake Estates (Phase II)
• The Madison
Some of these subdivisions have already completed the street construction while the
remainder are under construction. All the stop signs that are proposed are at "T"
intersections with the stop sign facing the minor street.
Stars and Stripes Way is currently being extended east from Grapevine Mills Parkway
(FM 2499) to connect to the SH 121 Southbound Service Road. A stop sign facing
Stars and Stripes Way will be required at this intersection. Similarly, Shadybrook Drive
is being extended to an intersection with Dove Loop near the Service Center. A stop
sign facing Shadybrook Drive will be required at this intersection.
Installation of the Stop signs provides motorists a clear indication of right-of-way,
reduces confusion and enhances traffic safety.
Staff recommends approval.
