SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION TO PURCHASE
PHOTOCOPIERS THROUGH THE STATE OF TEXAS
BUILDING AND PROCUREMENT TERM CONTRACT
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a resolution for the purchase of two Minolta
photocopiers for the Police Department in an amount not to exceed $22,870.00

Funds are available in the special revenue fund/non-departmental/machinery & equip.

BACKGROUND:
This procurement will be made in accordance with Texas Local Government Code,
Chapter 271.082 that extends to a municipality, State contract pricing for the purchase
of goods and/or services. A municipality that purchases goods or services under this
subchapter satisfies any State law relative to the competitive bidding statutes.
The State of Texas Building and Procurement Commission has established various
contracts for goods and services through the competitive bidding process. The City of
Grapevine has an established cooperative purchasing agreement with the Building and
Procurement Commission. The commission solicited sealed bids and a contract was
established for various types of photocopiers.
The purpose of this resolution is to approve the purchase of two photocopiers from the
existing Commission contract. The purchase will be made from the special revenue fund
that provides for the purchase of equipment and machinery.
Staff recommends approval.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
OR THE CITY MANAGER'S DESIGNATE TO PURCHASE
PHOTOCOPIERS THROUGH AN ESTABLISHED
COOPERATIVE PURCHASING AGREEMENT WITH THE
TEXAS BUILDING AND PROCUREMENT COMMISSION AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas is a local government in the State of
Texas and as such is empowered by the Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.082
to enter into a cooperative purchasing program agreement with State of Texas Building
and Procurement Commission in the State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Building and Procurement Commission, is a qualified entity
as authorized by Section 271.082 of the Texas Local Government Code; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas, has an established cooperative
purchasing agreement with the Texas Building and Procurement Commission and wishes
to utilize established contracts meeting all State of Texas bidding requirements for
photocopiers as follows:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase
of the Minolta photocopiers for a total cost not to exceed $22,870.00.
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase of said photocopiers.
Section 4. That this resolution shall become effective from and after the date of
its passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 23rd day of March, 2004.
