SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST
FOR QUOTE TO PURCHASE A 2014 CHEVROLET TAHOE

City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for quote to
purchase a 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe from Classic Chevrolet for the Fire Department.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 325 - 48910 - 210 -14 -0031
(Capital Equipment Acquisition Fund) for the amount not to exceed $36,820.00.
Quotes were requested and received by the Fleet Services staff and reviewed by
Purchasing. Formal bids and advertisements are not required for purchases under
$50,000.00. Three vendors submitted quotations.
Informal quotes received:
Classic Chevrolet $36,820.00
Caldwell Country Chevrolet $38,215.00
Reliable Chevrolet $37,373.00
Of the three quotes received, Classic Chevrolet submitted the lowest quote meeting
specifications.
Fire Department requested the immediate purchase of this vehicle to accommodate a
new Fire Inspector position authorized in the FY 2014 Budget. The position is expected
to be filled by mid - November.
The proposed vehicle is a new 2014 model and is being held by the dealer pending
Council's approval.
Model Year 2015 vehicles will not be available for delivery until approximately April of
2015 which does not meet the needed acquisition time line.
