SUBJECT: RENEWAL OF AN ANNUAL CONTRACT, BID NUMBER 107-
2001, PAVEMENT MARKING SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider an annual contract renewal to United Rentals to establish fixed
contract pricing for pavement marking services for the traffic department. The bid
tabulation is attached for review.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Annual contract expenditures will be limited to the department annual budget amount
approved for this service.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code, Section 252.021. Notice of
the bid was published in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Grapevine Sun on
September 13, 2001 and September 20, 2001.
The purpose of this bid is to establish fixed annual pricing for the purchase of pavement
marking services as required by the traffic department and is to be contracted on an as
needed basis. Bids were sent to three vendors with three vendors responding.
Council first approved this bid on November 6, 2001. A copy of the original agenda
memo and bid tabulation is attached for review. United Rentals was approved as the
overall lowest bid for this service and has performed the service satisfactorily during the
initial contract period. The original bid allowed for three additional contract renewals.
This would be the first renewal.
Staff recommends approval of a contract renewal to United Rentals.
