SUBJECT: ADOPT-A-PARK/ROAD PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION:
The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board and Staff recommend the City Council consider
approval of agreements with the McKergow Family for the Adopt -A -Road program for
Kimball Road, from Silvercrest Lane to Roaring Springs Road; the Hughes Family for the
Adopt -A -Road program for Mustang Drive, from SH 121 to Heritage Avenue; and with
the Cohen Family for the Adopt -A -Park program for the stream in Parr Park, from Parr
Lane to Big Bear Creek. Applications are attached for City Council review.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Adopt -A -Road signage would be placed at both ends of the limits on Kimball Road and
an Adopt -A -Park sign would be placed at the stream on Parr Lane. The cost of the
signs is approximately $150 and would come from the Grounds Maintenance Account
100-42205-312-3.
BACKGROUND:
The proposed agreements cover a two year period and require the applicants to pick up
litter a minimum of six times per year. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board approved
the agreements at the January 16, 2003 meeting. If approved by the City Council, the
City will have a total of 26 active Adopt-A-Road/Park programs.
Staff recommends approval.

section of roadway to be adopted. Such factors as width of right-of-way, geometrics,
congestion and reduced sight distance of roadways may be considered by the City in
