HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 17 - Mobile Radios Fire DepartmentITem 0 M� /� I — MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER�J/// MEETING DATE: FEBRUARY 18, 2003 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF MOBILE RADIOS FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider a resolution authorizing the purchase of 10 mobile radios for the Fire Department from Motorola, Inc. in the amount of $30,270.00. FUNDING SOURCE: 325-42281-000-0-0006 Lease Fund/Fire/Operations............. $30,270.00 BACKGROUND: This procurement will be made as a sole source purchase allowed under the State of Texas Local Government Code Chapter 252, Section 252.022 (7) (D). The radios can only be used with existing Motorola equipment. Council approved the budget for this purchase during the budget process for the 2003 budget year. This purchase includes 10 Motorola XTS 5000 portable mobile emergency radios with associated hardware and software. The radios are to be used by the Fire Department and are specifically designed for fire and rescue operations. Staff recommends approval of the purchase from Motorola, Inc. in the total amount of $30,270.00. CD February 12, 2003 (1:19PM) RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, MAKING FINDINGS OF CERTAIN FACTS RELATIVE TO THE PURCHASE OF MOTOROLA PORTABLE RADIOS THAT ARE AVAILABLE FROM ONLY ONE SOURCE AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine desires to purchase 10 Motorola portable radios including associated hardware and software from Motorola, Inc. as a sole source; and WHEREAS, Motorola, Inc. is the sole provider of the following equipment: 10 Each XTS 5000 portable radios and associated software NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase of the above listed equipment for a total not to exceed the annual budgeted amount of $30,270.00. Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps necessary to consummate the purchase. Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage.
