SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF BID NUMBER 146-2003, TEMPORARY
EMPLOYMENT -NON CLERICAL
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of bid 146-2003 to Temporaries of Texas for an annual
contract to provide non -clerical temporary employment. Contract expenditures will not
exceed the annual budgeted amount for this service.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Limited to budget appropriations at the department level.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). Bids were publicly read aloud per the
attached tabulation sheet.
Notice to bidders was published in the Grapevine Sun and the Fort Worth Star Telegram
on January16, 2003 and January 23, 2003.
This contract establishes fixed pricing for non -clerical temporary employment services to
be utilized by divisions on an as needed basis. A total of ten bids were sent to
prospective vendors with one vendor responding. Non -clerical temporary employment
bids have historically had a poor response as most temporary agencies specialize in
clerical positions. Temporaries of Texas is a local Grapevine company and met all of the
required specifications. The contract will be for a one-year period with three one-year
renewal options.
Staff recommends approval of a contract to Temporaries of Texas.
