HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 11 - Tree MaintenanceMEMO TO: FROM: MEETING DATE: SUBJECT: RECOMMENDATION: ITEMI , I / NOMMMENNNO HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER A/ MAY 6, 2003 RENEWAL OF ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR TREE MAINTENANCE, BID NUMBER 120-2002 City Council to consider renewal of an annual contract to Trees, Inc. as primary supplier and Asplundh Company as secondary supplier for an annual contract for the purchase of tree maintenance services. Contract expenditures will not exceed the annual budgeted amount for this service. A copy of the bid tabulation is attached for review. FUNDING SOURCE: 100-44540-312-3 General Fund/Parks Maintenance/Professional Services .... $55,000 BACKGROUND: Council first approved this contract on March 5, 2002. The contract establishes fixed pricing for tree maintenance services to be used on an as needed basis by the Parks Department. The bid requested unit pricing on different labor configurations for pruning, tree removal, stump grinding and disposal. The specifications of the contract specified an initial one- year period with an option to renew for three additional one-year periods. The lowest bid received was from Trees, Inc. This vendor was approved by Council as primary supplier, met all of the requested bid specifications and has performed the contract satisfactorily during the initial contract period. To insure uninterrupted service in case of emergency, Council also approved the second low bid from Asplundh as secondary supplier in cases where the primary supplier is not available perform these services. Staff recommends renewal of contracts to Trees, Inc. as primary supplier and to Asplundh as secondary supplier for tree maintenance services. CD April 30, 2003 (1:35PM) r m Oma.
