SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF CONTRACT RENEWAL, BID NUMBER 92-
2001, POLICE UNIFORMS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider renewal of an annual contract to Direct Action Uniform for the
purchase of uniforms by the Police Department. Annual expenditures will be limited to
the budgeted amount for this service.
FUNDING SOURCE:
100-42220-209-2 General Fund/Police Uniform Ops/Clothing Supplies......$80,200.00
BACKGROUND:
Bids were originally taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252,
Subchapter B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a).
The purpose of this bid is to establish annual contract pricing for police uniforms to be
ordered on an as needed basis by the Police Department.
Council first approved award of this contract to Direct Action Uniforms on May 15, 2001.
The contract was for an initial one-year period with an option to renew for three
additional one-year periods. This is the second renewal period.
The original bid was sent to five uniform vendors with three vendors responding. Direct
Action Uniforms was the lowest bid received. This company has performed this service
satisfactorily during the initial contract period. The original bid tabulation is attached for
review.
Staff recommends approval of renewing the contract with Direct Action Uniforms
