APPROVAL OF BID NUMBER 155-2003, CURB AND GUTTER
CONSTRUCTION -ANNUAL CONTRACT
City Council to consider award of an annual contract to Green Scaping as primary
vendor, REC General Contractors as second vendor, North Texas Coring as the third
vendor and Manning Concrete as fourth vendor for construction services of curb and
gutters to be ordered on an as needed basis. Annual expenditures will be limited to the
budgeted amount for this service. The bid tabulation is attached for review.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this contract are available in the following accounts:
174-43301-090-000 St. Maint/Capital Replacement/Trans. Infrast. Maint....... $75,000.00
116-43301-535-1 Storm Drainage Utility/Ad min istration/Trans. Infrast. Maint..$25,000.00
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a).
The purpose of this bid is to establish annual contract pricing for construction services to
replace existing or construct new curb and gutters on an as needed basis for the Street
Division.
Bids were sent to nine vendors with all nine vendors responding. Bids requested unit
pricing for various quantities of linear feet for the construction and/or replacement of
curb and gutters. Green Scaping was the lowest overall bid received and met all of the
bid requirements and specifications.
Because of the cyclical business for this type of service, it is recommended that awards
be made to the first, second, third and fourth vendors as listed above and as shown on
the bid tabulation.
Staff recommends approval.
