DOVE LOOP CONSTRUCTION PROJECT — AWARD OF
GEOTECHNICAL SERVICES CONTRACT
City Council consider awarding the Dove Loop Construction Project Geo -technical
Services Contract to CMJ Engineering, Incorporated in an amount not to exceed
$156,017.40, authorize staff to execute said contract, and take any necessary action.

BACKGROUND:
The Dove Loop Construction Project includes large quantities of roadway fill for the new
roadway section across the City Service Center, the Joe Wright Property and the Corps
of Engineer Property. The majority of the fill is associated with the two 300 foot long

bridges between N. Main Street and Dove Road. More than half of the contract cost for
the geo-technical services is associated with the fill compaction testing. $86,744.00
Another significant cost element of the geo-technical services contract is the bridge
related services including pier observation & material testing as well as bridge deck
observation and material testing. $28,018.00
The balance of the costs is associated with normal geo-technical testing services for a
large scale roadway project. These services include compaction testing of water line,
wastewater line and drainage line backfill, compaction testing of stabilized roadway
subgrade, concrete testing for the roadway and other concrete structures such as curb
inlets, drainage system headwalls and concrete box culverts. $41,255.40
Staff recommends approval.
