SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN ANNUAL CONTRACT
FOR POLICE UNIFORM CLEANING SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the award of contract to Grapevine Cleaners for
Police Uniform Cleaning Services.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 117-42220-209-2 (Clothing
Supplies) for an annual estimated budgeted amount of $44,000.00.
BACKGROUND:
The Police Department is looking for a single contract provider to clean department issued
uniforms/jail blankets. Currently, the Department is not under any uniform/jail laundry
contract.
Best value bids were solicited beginning June 23, 2016 with bid closing date of August 5,
2016 at 2:00 pm. There were 21 vendors electronically notified of the bid through the eBid
system. This is for an annual contract with two, one-year optional renewals.
Bids received:
Grapevine Cleaners $43,837.00
Dry Clean Super Center of Grapevine $45,899.97
Bids were evaluated by the Police staff with Grapevine Cleaners scoring as the best value
based on the evaluation criteria.
Staff recommends approval.
