FUNDING SOURCE: Funding for this purchase will be available in account 174-74015-312-077 in the amount not to exceed $38,368.56. BACKGROUND: This purchase adds a combination standard and ADA accessible kayak dock to Meadowmere Park. This is a much needed improved dock system that will be used in conjunction with the replacement rental building that was approved by Council earlier this year. The dock is an enhanced functional amenity that will accommodate the large number of water & paddle sport enthusiasts expected to return to Meadowmere once restoration of the park is complete. The previous dock was damaged during the flood, was a standard dock and did not meet the accessibility standards needed. Prior to the flood events, participation in paddle sports at Meadowmere Park was seeing a sharp increase and we expect that trend to continue and be exceeded with the restored and improved park amenities in general and particularly with water sports. This accessible kayak dock will expand programming opportunities for all patrons. Purchases will be made in accordance with an existing Cooperative Agreement with the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.081, 082 and 083. Bids were taken by the cooperative and a contract was awarded to EZ Docks of Texas, LP. The Parks & Recreation Department staff and Purchasing reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the needs of the City. Staff recommends approval. RESOLUTION NO.
