SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE PURCHASE OF
SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE THROUGH THE STATE OF
TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION RESOURCES
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a resolution to declare the State of Texas
Department of Information Resources a sole source provider for the purchase of a
service and maintenance contract covering various software licenses. The total cost of
this agreement is not to exceed $34,602.85.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 100-44540-101-2 General
Fund/MIS/Professional Services.
BACKGROUND:
This procurement will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local Government
Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.022 (A).
This request is for the purchase of maintenance to support the current software modules
that operate as part of the City networking system. The maintenance contract will cover
the Novell, Groupwise, Zenworks, Border Manager, and NDS Corporate software
packages. The contract is for one year from the date of approval.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS MAKING FINDINGS OF CERTAIN
FACTS RELATIVE TO THE PURCHASE OF A SOFTWARE
MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT; DETERMINING THAT THE
SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE IS AVAILABLE FROM ONLY
ONE SOURCE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE SAID CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine desires to cover the following software under a
maintenance agreement:
400 Each
Novell Netware Node Maintenance
400 Each
Groupwise Mailbox Maintenance
350 Each
Zenworks Server/Desktop Bundle Maintenance
400 Each
Border Manager EE Maintenance
19 Each
NDS Corporate Edition Maintenance
50 Each
Novell Netware 5.1 and prior Node License
350 Each
Groupwise Mailbox License
50 Each
Border Manager EE Node License
and;
WHEREAS, the State of Texas Department of Information Resources is the sole
provider of maintenance for the software listed above.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase
of a maintenance agreement to cover the listed software for a total not to exceed
$34,602.85.
Section 3. That the City Manger, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase of said maintenance agreement.
