FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in account 179-79149 (CIP Non -Bond Funded/Rehab. Projects) in the amount of $61,382.50. BACKGROUND: Request for bids for this procurement were sent to ten prospective vendors in accordance with Local Government Code, Section 252.021. Only one vendor submitted a bid. Staff contacted several non -responding vendors to find out why they did not submit bids. Staff found that several vendors cited existing workloads as the cause of their disinterest. Notice of the bid was published in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Grapevine Sun on June 22, 2000 and June 29, 2000. The bid was also advertised through the City purchasing web site. Bid forms were also available for download from the web site. A pre-bid meeting was held on August 15, 2000 and two vendors attended. The proposed work includes the interior rehabilitation of the historic 1927 Forbes House that was moved into Grapevine from Colleyville last summer. The exterior rehabilitation was completed and the house was made available for sale; however, there were no interested buyers. Proposed interior improvements include new tile and carpeting, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, new kitchen and bathrooms and converting the former two bedroom/one bath home into a two bedroom/two bath home with a study. A concrete driveway will also be included in the work. These improvements will make the Forbes House more marketable to the public. Staff requests approval. W September 14, 2000 (1:59PM)
