HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 17 - Dallas Road Parking Lot Irrigation and LandscapingITEM 0 /7 -- - MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGERk/ MEETING DATE: NOVEMBER 21, 2000 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF BID NUMBER 66-2000, DALLAS ROAD PARKING LOT IRRIGATION AND LANDSCAPE PROJECT RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of an award to the lowest bid meeting specifications for Dallas Road Parking Lot Irrigation and Landscape to BLM in the amount of $47,000.00. FUNVDIN G SOURCE: Funds are available in account 178-78361-009 Dallas Road Parking not to exceed the budget amount of $53,000.00. BACKGROUND: Request for bids for this procurement were sent to fifteen prospective vendors in accordance with Local Government Code, Section 252.021. Eight vendors submitted a bid. Notice of the bid was published in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Grapevine Sun on October 5, 2000 and October 12, 2000. The bid was also advertised through the City purchasing web site. Bid forms were also available for download from the web site. A pre-bid meeting was held on October 13, 2000 and four vendors attended. The low bid was submitted by Hampton Landscaping in the amount of $44,911.76 but this vendor did not meet the specifications. Therefore, staff recommends the Council award the second lowest bid submitted by BLM in the amount of $47,000.00. Parks Maintenance staff designed the irrigation system and landscaping for this project. The landscaping along Dallas Road will match the landscaping in front of the Police Building, which is located across the street from the parking lot.
