SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF BID 69-2000, INSULATION OF ABOVE
GROUND PIPING AT THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT, RAIN
WATER PUMP STATION AND DFW PUMP STATION
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of an award to Boyter Insulation Service for the
insulation of all above ground piping at the Water Treatment Plant, Rain Water Pump
Station and the DFW Pump Station at a total cost not to exceed $29,807.00.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account:
325-48860-000-0-0004 Lease Fund/Water Treatment/Machinery and
Equipment.$29,807.00
BACKGROUND:
Request for bids for this procurement were sent to five prospective vendors in
accordance with Local Government Code, Section 252.021. Two vendors submitted a
bid. Notice of the bid was published in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Grapevine
Sun on November 16, 2000 and November 23, 2000. The bid was also advertised
through the City purchasing web site. Bid forms were available for download from the
web site. A pre-bid meeting was held on November 17, 2000 and one vendor attended.
This request is for the purchase of services to remove old piping insulation and to place
new insulation on all above ground piping at the Water Treatment Plant, Rain Water
Pump Station and the DFW Pump Station as approved during the budget process.
Boyter Insulation Service was low bid and met all specifications. A bid tabulation is
attached for review.
Staff recommends approval.
