SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE PURCHASE OF
MOVING SERVICES FOR THE LIBRARY EXPANSION
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a resolution to declare L. B. Interiors, Inc. a sole
source provider of services to move library furniture and shelving at a total cost not to
exceed $42,037.50.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account: 177- 48840-012-313 in the
amount of $2,807,000 Library Improvements 2000A G.O. Bonds.
BACKGROUND:
This procurement will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local Government
Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.022 (A).
This request is for the purchase of moving services from L. B. Interiors, Inc. to move
furniture and shelving for the Library Expansion Project. L. B. Interiors is the
manufacturer's representative of both existing and newly purchased library furniture and
shelving that will be installed during the Library Expansion Project. The move and
installation of the existing shelving and furniture will require the use of specialized pieces
of hardware and parts that are available only from the original manufacture. In addition,
the move includes cleaning and light refurbishment of the existing equipment by the
manufacture standards to renew the manufactures original warranty for a five —year
period and L. B. Interiors is the only representative capable of extending the warranty.
Staff recommends approval.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, MAKING FINDINGS OF CERTAIN
FACTS RELATIVE TO THE PURCHASE OF MOVING
SERVICES FOR THE LIBRARY EXPANSION PROJECT,
DETERMINING THAT THE MOVING SERVICES IS
AVAILABLE FROM ONLY ONE SOURCE AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID
CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine desires to purchase moving services from L. B.
Interiors, Inc. as a sole source; and;
WHEREAS, L. B. Interiors, Inc. is the sole provider of the moving services due to
specialized hardware and parts that are only available from L. B. Interiors, Inc.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase
of the moving services for a total cost not to exceed $42,037.50.
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase of said moving services.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 19th day of December, 2000.
