HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 22 - Waterline Oversizing ReimbursementMEMO TO: FROM: MEETING DATE: SUBJECT RECOMMENDATION: ITEM it 7- �- HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER /" DECEMBER 19, 2000 WATERLINE OVERSIZING REIMBURSEMENT City Council consider authorizing waterline oversizing reimbursement to Matheus Brothers Investment, Inc. in the amount of $25,510.00, for the construction of a 20 inch water main along State Highway 121 through the Lot 1, Block 2, Driskill Place Addition (Boi Na Braza Steak House), authorize staff to issue payment to Matheus Brothers Investment, Inc., and take any necessary action. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Water Impact Fee Fund Balance in Account No. 200-48930-534- 6-000004. This project is programmed in the current 10 Year Capital Improvements Plan BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Matheus Brothers Investment, Inc. developed the Lot 1, Block 2, Driskill Place Addition (Boi Na Braza Steak House) on 2.380 acres of land located at the southeast corner of William D. Tate Avenue (State Highway 121 Frontage Road) and Hall Johnson Road. Matheus Brothers Investment, Inc. is required to oversize a water main to accommodate the City's Master Water Plan. Under normal conditions, this development would be required to construct an 8 inch water main to provide adequate service. The City Code provides for the City of Grapevine to refund private developments for the oversizing costs (the difference in costs of lines necessary for their development compared to lines required by the City's Master Water and Wastewater Plans). The developer has submitted a cost proposal of $41,400.00 for the 20 inch water main and appurtenances. For comparison, the developer also provided prices for an 8 inch water main at a cost of $15,890.00. The net oversizing costs that will be owed to the development for this water main is $25,510.00. Staff has reviewed the submitted 8 inch and 20 inch water main costs to actual 8 inch and 20 inch water main costs. The costs reflected in the request are comparable to other water main costs for the same line sizes. Therefore, staff feels that the prices presented by the developer are representative of actual costs for this type of work. Staff recommends approval.
