SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO COMBINE AND RENEW AN ANNUAL SOLE
SOURCE CONTRACT FOR DIGITAL EVIDENCE MANAGEMENT
SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval to combine and renew an annual sole source contract
with TASER International, Inc. for digital evidence management services for the Police
Department.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase will be available in account 117-44540-209-4 (CCPD -
Professional Services) for FY2017 in the amount not to exceed $99,224.94.
BACKGROUND:
This purchase is for the storage of digital video evidence obtained through the use of body
worn cameras used by peace officers.
TASER International, Inc. is the documented sole source provider of the Axon Body
Camera and the Evidence.com online storage system.
This request is to renew and combine two contracts, one from 2014 and one from 2015,
for ease of contract management, extend the renewal options, upgrade all current body
worn cameras with new high definition (HD) cameras and increase the amount of available
storage space. The initial revised combined contract is for one year with four optional, one
year renewals.
This procurement will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local Government
Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, § 252.022. General Exemptions (a)(7)(A).
Staff recommends approval.
