BACKGROUND: During the November 20th Workshop, the City Council directed City Staff to amend the ordinance section dealing with political signs in public rights-of-way. Currently, political signs are allowed in the rights-of-way up to 30 -days prior to an election. The amendment would continue the practice of allowing signs in the rights-of-way, but for a period of ten days prior to election day. Political signs are to be removed within three days after an election, as currently required. This ordinance change does not impact the placement of political signs on private property, which is currently allowed up to 60 days prior to election day. November 28, 2001 (9:24AM) I ORDINANCE NO.
