SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF BID 118-2002 FOR THE PURCHASE OF
CONCRETE SAWS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider award of bid 118-2002 to Barnsco, Inc. for the purchase of two
concrete saws. The total amount of this expenditure is $26,195.56. A bid tabulation is
attached for review.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in the lease fund to satisfy necessary debt payment requirements.

BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021, 252.0215, and 252.022.
This bid was advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Grapevine Sun on
December 6, 2001 and December 13, 2001.
The purpose of this bid was to obtain competitive pricing for the purchase of two
concrete saws. The bid was sent to six vendors with three vendors responding.
One saw replaces a fourteen year old saw currently used by the Street Department. This
saw has a ten year replacement criteria. The second saw will be used by the Traffic
Department and was approved as an increased service level during the FY2002 budget
process.
Barnsco, Inc. was the lowest bid received and met all of the specification requirements
of the bid.
Staff recommends approval of an award to Barnsco, Inc.
