CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 — WADSWORTH CONTRACT GOLF
COURSE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
City Council to consider approving Change Order No.1 to the Wadsworth Construction Inc.,
contract in the amount of $46,490 to upgrade the installed irrigation system; and to
authorize reuse of greens mix for tee construction, authorize staff to execute change order
and take any necessary action.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available from the Combination Tax and Revenue Certificates of Obligation,
Series 1998, the Lake Enterprise Permanent Capital Maintenance Fund and Lake
Enterprise Fund Balance; Golf Course Construction, Phase III:

BACKGROUND:
On October 16, 2001 City Council authorized a contract with Wadsworth Golf Construction
Inc. in the amount of $1,990,786 for the third and final phase of the Golf Course
Improvement Project. At the time of bid award the City staff discussed three items which
needed to be approved to amend the contract. This change order authorizes those three
items. The three items included in Change Order No. 1 are listed below:
Upgrade Irrigation System
Add Fertigation System
Reuse of Greens Mix on new tees (deduct)

The irrigation system upgrade will provide an upgraded control system which will allow golf
course staff to use interactive control computer communicators for setting the irrigation
system program. The upgrade will allow use of one graphic display controller for all 27
holes, Mockingbird, Bluebonnet and Pecan. This is a much improved controller system
over the previous one. The fertigation system on the final phase (Pecan) will be consistent
with the system installed for the irrigation of both the Bluebonnet and Mockingbird nines.
This allows the use of liquid fertilizers and other chemicals to be selectively applied through
the irrigation water to the golf course. It is a state of the art fertilizer application system and
is very efficient and effective. The third item is a cost savings procedure which is
recommended by both the contractor and the architect.
Approval of these items in Change Order No. 1 will result in a new total contract price of
$2,037,276.
Staff recommends approval.

Our office is in receipt of Change Order number one for the third nine renovation at Grapevine
Municipal Golf Course. The following items are proposed as changes to the contractual scope of
work:
1). Irrigation Alternate #1 Irrigation Upgrade to "Vista" $55,000.00
2). Irrigation Alternate #2 Fertigation System, Comm 2000 $17,800.00
3). Tee Mix Alternative Reuse Existing Greensmix on Tees $(26,810.00)
Total $46,490.00
Based on the prior approval of these changes by Jim Smith and Jim Long, it is the
recommendation of GRI Design, Inc. that Change Order No. I be processed.
