The minutes were read and approved. Old business discussed Baasthe appointment' of library board membxs by the City Council $ Those re- appointed. were Mrs.F<A.Florence,Mrs. Vern Cashman$ Riney Jordan, Ed Pew tt, Mrs. John Tribble. Jeanne Wingate was appointed to fil.l the vacancy left by the resignation of Abbie Brown. Dion Wingate was present at the meeting. The librarian gave her 'he -materia" that sire needed as ng stipulated in the by-laws, plus reading material pertainT to being a _ library board member, To more evenly divide the I number of members on a rotating basis, straws were drawn... Ed Pewitt, will serve a one-year term, the rest will serve 2 -dear terms. The Librarian reported on the plans for the new library. She had been told that it was a possibility that the architect would be given;a contrast at the council. meeting the same night and also that the improvement and refurbishing of the new building might be accomplished by using Revenue Sharing Funds. Adel this being contingent on action by the City Council® The Librarain gave a report on her trip to El Paso(April 0-16) for the Texas Librar�l Association Convention. She outlined for the Board a fewof the highlights of the meeting and also gave a, resume of her expenses. SI!ht: also stated that she had a book of the proceedings which they could read. Summer Reading Program materials would be available in Ivay and the Librarian asked the board members to "jot" ot" down �.deas that might � g prove beneficial in this program. Father B. suggested w&might take a few trips- with some of the children to the new building so that they would know where they would be using the library after themove® New business: Mrs. Gibbs announced that the Tarrant Regional Librarians would be meeting with Grapevine on May 20th at 9:30 am. CII r The Librarian reminded the Board that a break down of all these programs were available to them if they wished to look at them, Dan Reynolds(Chai.,-7ran of the Advisory Council) recognized Mrs. Eula Nation (Librarian at Azle) and Mrs. Doris Foster(Librarian at Keller) for winning the J. Frank Dobie Award. This meant $2,247.23 for each of these libraries to iase for buying books. There was a film shoe by Film Director Arlington It was Public Library on their fibra—xT. made for use during Nat'l Lib. Week. Mrs. Gibbs reminded the Library Board that it was budget time and she could use some imput from each of them on any ideas they might have to afire sent . Hazel Cashman made a motion to adjourn.
