There are 16 sewage lift station in the City system. The four being rehabilitated are the oldest stations and have begun to present operational problems. The stations are as follows: 1. Kimball Rd. lift station 2. Lakeview lift station 3. Dove Rd. #1 lift station 4. Golf Course lift station June 11, 2002 (3:45PM) Each of these stations was constructed in the 1970s and has reached its design life. The pumps and motor control centers are in need of replacement and the wet wells have experienced substantial corrosion. The project was designed by Alan Plummer Associates, Inc. and advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram on May 5, and 12, 2002. Bids were opened on June 5, 2002. Five bids were received and Red River Construction Co. was the low bidder in the amount of $1,139,518.15 (see bid tabulation). The engineers' estimate of probable construction cost was $1,204,500.00. References were checked for Red River Construction Co. and were found to be excellent by the engineer. Staff and Alan Plummer Associates, Inc. recommends award of bid to Red River Construction Co. in the amount of $1,139,518.15. Dear Mr. Singleton: Bids were received and opened for the above -referenced project at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at the Public Works Department Office. A total of five bids were received and opened as listed below. Red River Construction Co. Plano, Texas $1,139,518.15 AUI Contractors, L.P. Fort Worth, Texas $1,214,493.15 Can-Fer Construction Co. Dallas, Texas $1,338,000.00 Earth Builders, Inc. Decatur, Texas $1,395,665.50 Gracon Construction, Inc. Mesquite, Texas $1,442,718.15* Engineer's opinion of probable construction cost was estimated at $1,204,500.00. A complete bid tabulation is enclosed for your information. Please note that the bid totals shown above with an "*" indicate a revised total, due to found mathematical errors in the bid proposai> None of the errors are significant in amount, and did not change the relative ranking of th,r total bid amounts. Red River Construction Company submitted the apparent low bid. The bid was properly submitted without any exceptions or additional statements. All addendums were acknowledged on the proposal. The apparent low bidder provided an extensive list of references. APAI is familiar with multiple projects in which Red River was/is the contractor and consider their performance on that project satisfactory. We, therefore, recommend award of the Wastewater Lift Station Improvements, Lakeview, Kimball, Dove I, & Golf Course project to Red River Construction Company in the amount of $1,139,518.15. This project is contracted for all items to be substantially complete within 240 days after the date when contract times commence to run, and substantially complete by 270 days. 7524 MOSIERVIEW COURT SUITE 200 Contract times commence on the 30`h day after the effective date of the Agreement, or on the day indicated in the Notice to Proceed.
