FUNDING SOURCE: 325-48860-00000005 Lease Fund/Machinery & Equip -Equip. Note `02..$20,548.00 BACKGROUND: This purchase is for a greens mower as approved during this budget year for the Golf Course. The mower is a replacement for a mower purchased in 1997. House Bill 197 raised the formal bid limit requirement from $15,000 to $25,000. In accordance with City Purchasing Policy bids were solicited through the Internet e- commerce web site. Bids were distributed to nine vendors with one vendor responding. The type and configuration of the mower requested is only available through a limited distributor network in Texas which is the reason only one vendor responded. An advertisement was not required. To insure versatility and life expectancy Staff requested that the mower meet or exceed certain specifications in regard to engine horsepower, blade and roller configuration and optional equipment. The bid received was from Professional Turf Products which bid a Toro Greens Master model mower. Toro is one of a few manufactures of greens equipment, and the distribution of the equipment in Texas is limited to Professional Turf Products. Staff recommends award of a contract to Professional Turf Products. CD June 25, 2002 (12:53PM)
