SUBJECT: VERIZON EASEMENT DEDICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council consider approving the City's dedication of an easement for Verizon's
construction of a Fiber Fed Switch Facility in the northwest corner of the Fire Station # 4
site, and take any necessary action.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The facilities to be installed in the easement include a Fiber Fed Switch Box that will be
six feet wide by sixteen feet long and four feet above ground. Additionally, a Cross
Connect Cabinet six feet in height will be constructed in the easement.
Verizon has agreed to fence the easement with an eight foot high wood fence to blend
with the existing fence along the west property line of the fire station site and plant
shrubbery around the fence to further enhance the area.
The facilities are necessary to improve the service to the existing customers in the area,
provide service to future customers in the area including the three lots on the east side
of Merlot Avenue recently platted by Jerry Delaney, and possibly provide DSL service in
the future for the area.
The proposed location is the least obtrusive site in the area and enables Verizon to
provide the services to the area without impacting the fire station site.
Staff recommends approval.
