HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 18 - Bluebonnet Hole No. 4 RestroomMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER��t/ MEETING DATE: JULY 16, 2002 SUBJECT: GRAPEVINE MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE CHANGE ORDER No. 2 BLUEBONNET HOLE NO. 4 RESTROOM RECOMMENDATION: City Council consider approval of Change Order No. 2 to the construction contract with Wadsworth Golf Construction Co. for the construction of the Pecan Course of the Grapevine Municipal Golf Course in the amount of $ 45,914.00, for the construction of a restroom on the Bluebonnet Course of the Grapevine Municipal Complex, authorize staff to execute said change order, and take any necessary action. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are currently available in the Lake Enterprise Permanent Capital Maintenance Fund, account number 210-48850-341-0. BACKGROUND: Staff has worked with an architect, SG Design, Inc., to prepare plans for a restroom on the Bluebonnet Course. When the bids were received, the construction cost of the facility was in excess of the project budget. Staff then began to explore possible alternatives to the original design, which would be more cost effective. Staff has met with the proposed subcontractor, Lane Supply, Inc. of Arlington, Texas to discuss the fabrication and construction of a self contained restroom facility, which will be delivered and installed near the green of Hole No. 4 on the Bluebonnet Course. The restroom will be connected to utilities that will be provided by the Town of Flower Mound through an Interlocal Agreement, which was approved by the Flower Mound Council on December 18, 2000 and the Grapevine City Council on December 19, 2000. The proposed restroom will have a masonry exterior and a metal roof. The colors will correspond to the other facilities on the course. July 9, 2002 (8:37AM) On October 16, 2001, the City Council authorized a contract with Wadsworth Golf Construction, Inc. in the amount of $1,990,786 for the third and final phase of the Golf Course Improvement Project. Subsequently, Council approved Change Order No. 1 to Wadsworth's contract on February 5, 2002 in the amount of $46,490.00. This final phase contract provides the opportunity to incorporate the construction of the self-contained restroom into the existing contract as a change order. The third phase contractor has agreed to add this project to the existing contract by utilizing Lane Supply, Inc. as a subcontractor for the installation of the restroom. This approach expedites the construction of the facility at a price that Staff feels is representative of the proposed facility. Staff recommends approval.
