SUBJECT: SH 26 OVERLAY & RESTRIPING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1/
ADVANCED FUNDING AGREEMENT - TXDOT
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council consider ratifying staff's execution of Change Order No. 1 to the Advanced
Funding Agreement with TxDOT in the amount of $70,606.25 for local participation in
the surfacing and restriping of SH 26 between Mustang Drive and Kimball Road and
take any necessary action.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds for this Change Order have been provided by the Grapevine-Colleyville
Independent School District in the amount of $ 100,000.00.
BACKGROUND:
TxDOT is proposing to modify SH 26 between Mustang Drive and Kimball Road /
Heritage Avenue from the existing four -lane configuration to a four -lane with a center
turn -lane configuration. The project will involve overlaying the entire width of the
roadway, including the shoulders, and adding new pavement markings.
The cost of this work, based upon existing TxDOT contract prices, is $141,212.50.
TxDOT is willing to fund half of that cost and has asked the local entities to fund the
other half. The GCISD has provided $100,000.00 to the City of Grapevine for
participation in these improvements. The City will not be required to provide any
funding.
TxDOT has requested the City expedite the approval of the change order so that the
work can begin immediately. Staff executed the Change Order and forwarded the
documentation to TxDOT for their processing.
Staff recommends approval.

5. Describe the work being revised: This change order is necessary
in order to revise the project limits on the original construction project.
The revision was agreed upon by our office in an effort to provide a safer
condition to the traveling public by restriping this section of roadway to
provide a continuous left turn lane. This was a decision based on a request
from the City of Grapevine due to a high school that is located in this area
and the numerous left turn movements that occur daily in this area. The
overlay will provide a stronger pavement section. This is a third party
funding effort in which the City of Grapevine has agreed to pay for half the cost
associated with this work.
