HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 22 - Oak Grove ParkMEMO TO: FROM: MEETING DATE SUBJECT: RECOMMENDATION: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER 461 AUGUST 6, 2001 APPROVAL OF BID 99-2001 TO INSTALL FENCING AT THE OAK GROVE PARK SOFTBALL FACILITY City Council to consider award of a contract to Sports Facilities for Items 1 and 2 and to Coffey's Landscaping for Item 3 for the installation of fencing and associated hardware at the Oak Grove Park Softball Facility. The total amount of this expenditure is $25,708.17. A bid tabulation is attached for review. FUNDING SOURCE: 100-42200-312-6 General Fund/Athletic Programs/Operating Supplies.....$17,000 171 -46680 -000 -NW Northwest Open Space Funds.................................8,709 BACKGROUND: Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.021, 252.0215, and 252.022. This bid was advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Grapevine Sun on June 21, 2001 and June 28, 2001. The bid was also advertised on the City's purchasing web site that had bid forms available for download. The purpose of this bid was to obtain competitive pricing for the installation of fencing and associated hardware at the Oak Grove Park Softball Facility Bids were sent to nine vendors with two vendors responding. A pre-bid meeting was held on July 18, 2001 to answer any questions that potential vendors might have regarding the specifications. Two vendors attended the pre-bid meeting. The lowest overall bid was from Coffey's Landscaping at $35,678.93. However, significant savings could be realized by awarding the bid to each vendor who had the lowest bid for each item. Both vendors agreed to accept an award based on their low bid. August 1, 2001 (3:47PM) Staff recommends the award be made to the low bid of Sports Facilities for items 1 and a 2 and to Coffey's Landscaping for item 3 for an overall award of $25,708.17.
