The upgrade includes replacement of nine existing sirens, installation of additional sirens to improve siren coverage within the city, implementation of a new computer controller, and integration of a battery back-up system to allow for siren system operation during utility outages. BACKGROUND: The current City of Grapevine siren system consists of 11 sirens placed strategically throughout the city. The majority of the siren system was installed 30 years ago. The City of Grapevine has installed two sirens within the last ten years. The siren tocations and year of installation are as follows: Siren Location Year Installed 1 300 Barton Street 1978 2 3000 Gra evine Mills Parkwa 1999 3 3800 Fairwa Drive 1999 4 2000 Doole Street 1978 5 Red Bird Lane and Dove Pond 1978 6 1500 Hood Lane 1978 7 Oak Grove Park 1978 8 600 Hu hes 1978 9 2900 Old Mill Run 1978 10 Mustan at Ponderosa 1978 11 2700 Whitb Drive 1978 Within the current siren system, all sirens are tied directly to electricity and cannot function when power is lost. This proves to be problematic as two sirens routinely lose power during extreme weather conditions. Staff will detail the schedule for installation and cost for the upgrade, as well as answer any questions during the presentation. . October 29,2008(4:26PM)
