SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE DONATION OF
SURPLUS PROPERTY TO PARRAS DE LA FUENTE,
COAHUILA, MEXICO
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider a resolution for the donation of a play structure and swing set to
Grapevine's sister city, Parras de la Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico. Please see the attached
resolution. Also, staff will have pictures of the play equipment at the meeting.
BACKGROUND:
The Council approved new play equipment for the Oak Grove Soccer Complex at the
`M October 21St meeting. At that meeting, staff informed the Council that staff has had
discussions with officials from Parras regarding the city donating play equipment that will
be removed from the Oak Grove Soccer Complex. Officials from Parras are very excited
to have the opportunity to receive the play equipment from Grapevine.
If the Council approves the resolution to donate the used play equipment to Parras, staff
from the Convention & Visitors Bureau will deliver the equipment on the next trip to
Parras. The current plan is that staff from our Parks Maintenance Division will go to
Parras with CVB officials and help assemble the equipment.
Play equipment that is removed from the parks is typically cut up and put in the scrap
metal bin for recycling. Play equipment is replaced approximately every 15 years.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, DECLARING CERTAIN PROPERTY
SURPLUS AND/OR SALVAGE; PROVIDING FOR THE
DONATION OF SAID PROPERTY TO PARRAS DE LA
FUENTE, COAHUILA, MEXICO; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the City of Grapevine is in possession of
surplus and/or salvage property; and
WHEREAS, two items would be of use to Grapevine's sister city, Parras de la
Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the following items are declared surplus and are donated to
Parras de la Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico:
One play structure with a slide and climbers and one swing set from the Oak Grove
Soccer Complex.
Section 3. That the City Manger, or his designee, is authorized to make the above
items available to Parras de la Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
