APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST
FOR QUOTE TO PURCHASE HOST SERVERS
City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for quote to
purchase five host servers from SHI for the IT Department.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 325- 48821 - 101 -14 -0029
(2014 Small IT Purchases) for an amount not to exceed $22,465.00.
BACKGROUND:
Quotes were requested and received by the IT staff and reviewed by Purchasing. Formal
bids and advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000.00. Four vendors
submitted quotations.
Informal quotes received:
SHI $22,465.00
Wholesale PC Motherboard, Co. $24,051.00
Southern Computer Warehouse $25,160.65
Parity Consultants $25,303.40
Of the four quotes received, SHI submitted the lowest quote meeting specifications.
With this purchase IT will increase the available host server resources for the virtual
desktop project. The additional host servers will help facilitate the expansion of virtual
desktops throughout the city.
Staff recommends approval.
