SUBJECT: CONSIDER AGREEMENTS WITH WESTERN OAKS III
HOMEOWNER'S ASSN. AND THE SARK FAMILY FOR THE
ADOPT -A -ROAD PROGRAM AND WITH GIRL SCOUT TROOP
4034 FOR THE ADOPT -A -PARK PROGRAM
RECOMMENDATION:
The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board and staff recommend the City Council consider
approval of the following Adopt -A -Road / Park agreements:
• Western Oaks III Homeowner's Assn. for the Adopt -A -Road program for Western
Oaks Drive, from William D. Tate Avenue to Heritage Avenue
• The Sark Family for the Adopt -A -Road program for Dove Road, from Panhandle
Court Drive to Kimball Road
• Girl Scout Troop 4034 for the Adopt -A -Park program for Pickering Park.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Adopt -A -Road / Park signage would be placed at the project areas. The estimated cost
of the signage for all three programs would be approximately $300. Funding for these
signs would come from the Parks Maintenance Account 100-42200-312-3.
BACKGROUND:
Through the Adopt -A -Road / Park agreements, all entities above would be required to
pick up litter a minimum of six times per year. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
approved all three agreements at the September 20, 2001 meeting.

The City of Grapevine will work with the adopting group to determine the specific
section of roadway to be adopted. Such factors as width of right-of-way, geometrics,
congestion and reduced sight distance of roadways may be considered by the City in
determining what roadways shall be eligible for adoption.
