HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 08 - Pavement Marking ServicesITEM 0 __9_,_ MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER A(/ MEETING DATE: NOVEMBER 6, 2001 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF AN ANNUAL CONTRACT, BID NUMBER 107- 2001, PAVEMENT MARKING SERVICES RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider an annual contract award to United Rentals to establish fixed contract pricing for pavement marking services for the traffic department. A bid tabulation is attached for review. FUNDING SOURCE: Annual contract expenditures will be limited to the department's annual budget amount approved for this service, Account 174-43301-093, Maintenance Capital Replacement Fund, Transportation Infrastructure Maintenance, Traffic Signs and Signals. BACKGROUND: Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code, Section 252.021. Notice of the bid was published in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Grapevine Sun on September 13, 2001 and September 20, 2001. The purpose of this bid is to establish fixed annual pricing for the Traffic Department's purchase of pavement marking services, which is to be contracted on an as needed basis. Bids were sent to three vendors with three vendors responding. United Rentals was the overall low bid on the 31 items quoted and met all of the required specifications. Under specifications of the bid this contract will be for an initial one-year period with an option to renew for three additional one-year periods. Staff recommends that an award to establish an annual contract be made to United Rentals.
