The roadway will provide an additional reliever route for traffic destined for DFW Airport when SH 360 & SH 121 / SH 114 are heavily congested. Additionally, this roadway will provide added capacity for the corridor while the SH 121 / SH 114 project is under construction. October 29, 2002 (10:40AM) The City's participation in this project includes the engineering services and provision of right-of-way land. NCTCOG will fund and TxDOT will construct the project. This approach allows the City to maintain more control on the design approach and design details of the project. DFW Airport has advised the City staff of their support for this project across DFW property. The roadway will be constructed as a four lane concrete pavement section matching the current pavement section of Westport Parkway and Stone Myers Parkway. Euless Grapevine Road will be reconstructed from Westport Parkway south to SH 360 and will include the widening of the existing bridge over Big Bear Creek. Stone Myers Parkway will be extended from its current north terminus at Prospect Parkway north across DFW Airport property to Mustang Drive. The engineering services include the preparation of two separate sets of construction plans and contract documents for the project. A 12" waterline will be constructed from Prospect Parkway north to Mustang Drive solely by the City of Grapevine. The consultant will prepare construction plans and contract documents for the City's bidding and construction of the waterline improvements. The roadway and drainage improvements will be constructed by TxDOT and will require the engineer to provide a completely different set of construction plans and contract documents. These plans and documents will be prepared in TxDOT's format utilizing TxDOT's design specifications, bidding documents, plan sheet formatting, etc. Staff recommends approval.
