APPROVAL OF A SOLE SOURCE RESOLUTION FOR THE
PURCHSE OF A LIFEPAK® 12 DEFIBRILLATOR/MONITOR
City Council to consider approval of a sole source resolution for the purchase of a
Lifepak° 12 Defibrillator/Monitor and Lithium Battery Pak from Medtronic Physio -Control
in the total amount of $24,418.62.

BACKGROUND:
This purchase will be made as a sole source purchase under the State of Texas Local
Government Code Chapter 252, Section 252.022 (7) (D).
The procurement is for a Lifepak° 12 Defibrillator/Monitor and Lithium Battery Pak from
Medtronic Physio -Control in the total amount of $24,418.62. The City Council approved
this purchase through the budget process. The purchase will be made as a sole source
in order to integrate the monitor with existing physio -control equipment currently in use
by the Fire Department. This monitor is a small, lightweight and rugged unit providing
multi -parameter monitoring specifically designed for a quick response under emergency
situations.
Staff recommends approval.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, MAKING FINDINGS OF CERTAIN
FACTS RELATIVE TO THE PURCHASE OF A LIFEPAK® 12
DEFIBRILLATOR/MONITOR AND LITHIUM BATTERY PAK
THAT ARE AVAILABLE FROM ONLY ONE SOURCE AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID
CONTRACTS AND DOCUMENTS AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine desires to purchase a Lifepak° 12
Defibrillator/Monitor and Lithium Battery Pak as a sole source; and
WHEREAS, Medtronic Physio -Control is the sole provider of the following items:
Lifepak° 12 Defibrillator/Monitor
Lithium Battery Pak
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase
of the listed items from Medtronic Physio -Control in a total amount not to exceed
$24,418.62.
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 19th day of November, 2002.
