SUBJECT: TREE REMOVAL REQUEST TR02-02
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Planning and Zoning Commission reconsider and approve Tree
Removal Request TR02-02 for property referred to as the "James Tiller Property,"
platted as lot 2R, Block 1, SH 26/Pool Road Addition, and take any action necessary.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Tree Removal Request TR02-02 was considered at the October 15, 2002 meeting. The
request was eventually denied due to the applicant's inability to provide any firm
conceptual idea or plan relative to the site's possible development. The applicant has
now provided a conceptual plan on the site and has therefore resubmitted the tree
removal request for consideration.
The property, located at the western edge of the city adjacent to the City boundary with
the City of Colleyville, on the south side of Ira E. Woods Avenue, has been a part of a
failed rezoning and several failed conditional use requests associated with an
Albertson's shopping center project. Due to the failure of these projects, the owner of
the property wants to remove from the site all paving and other improvements and
reclaim as much property as possible from the floodplain in order to market the
property. To this end the owner of the property is seeking a tree removal request to
remove 24 trees totaling 196 caliper inches from the site to be replaced by 66 trees (3
inch caliper diameter) totaling 198 caliper inches which will be, placed in the two planting
areas shown on the plan.
