SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF THE PURCHASE OF DRINKING FOUNTAINS
FOR CITY PARKS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of the purchase of nine drinking fountains from Most
Dependable Fountains, Inc. The total cost of this purchase is not to exceed $34,520.00.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this expenditure is currently available in account 174-74015-059-000 (Street
Maintenance/Capital Replacement/Park Maintenance Projects).
� BACKGROUND:
This procurement will be made as a sole source in accordance with Local Government
Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.022 (a) (7) (A).
This request is to approve the purchase of nine drinking fountains for the City's Park
System. The Parks & Recreation Department Staff researched water fountains and
recommended the Most Dependable Fountains, Inc. drinking fountain models. The
Parks System currently has 12 of the models in the Parks System and the new fountains
will match the design currently being used. The Most Dependable Fountain design is an
exclusive design that is not sold elsewhere. One key advantage of using the fountains is
that they are freeze resistant. Our current fountains are not and must be turned off
during the winter months. This new fountain will remain on year round.
Staff recommends approval of the purchase of the drinking fountains from Most
Dependable Fountain, Inc. in a total amount not to exceed $34,520.00.
