SUBJECT: GEOTECHNICAL SERVICES CONTRACT AMENDMENT —
BASS PRO DRIVE PROJECT
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council consider ratifying a contract for Bass Pro Drive Project Geotechnical
Services with HVJ Associates approved by staff in an amount of $14,500, authorizing
Amendment #1 to the contract in an amount not to exceed $6,500, authorize staff to
execute said amendment, and take any necessary action.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available from 03 GO Bonds in account 17878106015.
BACKGROUND:
City Council approved a geotechnical services contract with ECS LLP Texas on
March 6, 2007 for the Bass Pro Drive Construction Project. Due to lack of satisfactory
performance as the project progressed, staff cancelled the contract in February, 2008.
Staff approved a Phase I contract with HVJ Associates on March 7, 2008 for $14,500 to
provide geotechnical services for the balance of the construction project. At that time,
staff knew that there would likely be additional services necessary, but the initial
proposal allowed the staff to instruct them to proceed with the testing work without
causing any delays to our construction contractor.
The services that have been necessary to complete the project including the pavement
coring that remains to be done totals $ 6,500.
Staff recommends approval.
