APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF RFB 412 -2014 FOR LAKE
CABINS
City Council to consider approval for the award of RFB 412 -2014 for lake cabins to
Athens Park Homes.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in account 119 - 48840 -312 -9 (Lake Parks General Fund) for an
amount not to exceed $82,395.02.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid was advertised in the Fort
Worth Star Telegram on October 31 and November 7, 2013. There were 390 vendors
electronically notified of the bid through the eBid system. One vendor submitted a bid.
The bids were opened electronically and publicly on November 21, 2013 at 2 pm.
Bid Results:
Athens Park Homes
$82,395.02.
Athens Park Homes bid is responsible and responsive.
The Vineyards Campground & Cabins has benefited from revenues generated with the
installation of 12 previously installed cabins at the campground. To meet the demand of
non -RV owners, $90,000 was included in FY2014 budget for two additional cabins. The
two cabins up for consideration are from the same manufacturer as the last seven
cabins that were purchased, Athens Park Homes. One cabin is a one bedroom /one
bath with a loft. The other cabin is a two bedroom /one bath with a loft. The cabins will
have the same interior finishes selected by the City Council Facilities Committee for the
last seven cabins approved at the campground. The cabins will be located in the
general area of the other cabins overlooking the Farris Branch watershed, on the west
side of the campground. It is projected that these cabins will have a conservative

payback of two years. If approved, the cabins are expected to be available for
reservations by mid - March, 2014.
Staff recommends approval.
