HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06 - Local Air Quality Traffic Signal Project � ���� '� .�,��, MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER �� MEETING DATE: APRIL 1, 2008 , SUBJECT: INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE AND THE NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS (NCTCOG) FOR LOCAL AIR QUALITY TRAFFIC SIGNAL PROJECT RECOMMENDATION: City Councii consider approving an Interlocal Agreement befinreen the City of Grapevine and the NCTCOG for Local Air Quality Traffic Signal Projects providing funding for re- timing of traffic signals within the City of Grapevine, authorize City funding in the amount of $40,553.00, authorize the City Manager to execute said Interlocal Agreement, and take any necessary action. FUNDING: Funds are currently programmed and available in Account #178-78124-015. BACKGROUND: The City applied for grant funding in July, 2006 to re-time traffic signals citywide as part o# a Call for Projects under the Air Quaiity program that was issued by the NCTCOG. The City was successful in obtaining funding in the amount of $952,600 to retime 58 signals located in the City and install video detection at 30 signals. Of these 58 signals, 18 signals are on City streets and 40 signals are on state highways. NCTCOG separated the project into finro segments for contractual purposes. The subject agreement is for the City portion only (18 signals) at a total estimated cost of $202,767. The NCTCOG funding is $162,214 and the City's matching portion is $40,553. The City will enter into a separate agreement with the State for the State portion of the project but will implement the entire project as one. The entire State portion is funded through NCTCOG and State funds and does not require a City contribution. Staff recommends approval. RC/rc March 25, 2008(1:55PM)
