SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION FOR THE PURCHASE OF
TWO NEW 2013 EZ-TRANS 217"-3200 NAVISTAR BUSES
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a resolution for the purchase of two new 2013 EZ-
Trans 217"-3200 Navistar buses from National Bus Sales and Leasing, Inc. through an
Interlocal Agreement for Cooperative Purchasing with the Houston-Galveston Area
Council (H-GAC).
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 325-48910-350-13-0019
(Vehicle & Capital Equipment Acquisitions) for the amount not to exceed $333,040.00.
BACKGROUND:
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing Interlocal Agreement for
Cooperative Purchasing with the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) as allowed
by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102, Cooperative Purchasing Program.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to National Bus Sales
and Leasing, Inc. The Fleet Services staff reviewed the contract for specification
compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product
and pricing for meeting the needs of the City. The Cooperative Purchasing Agreement
satisfies all bidding requirements under the Texas Local Government Code.
Council approved the purchase of two shuttle buses for the City of Grapevine
Convention & Visitors Bureau in the FY2013 Budget. The buses will provide the needed
coverage for the increasing ridership and demands of tourist and visitors and their needs
to explore and enjoy the City of Grapevine. With the ever expanding retailers and dining
establishments within the City, the additional buses contribute to the economy and
serves as a welcome mat to all those who travel through our city.
Staff recommends approval.

Texas and as such is empowered y the Texas Local Government Code, Section 271.102
to enter into a cooperative purchasing program ree ent with other qualified entities In
the t to of Texas; and
WHEREAS, the Houston-Galveston Area Council ( - ), a regional planning
commission, is a qualified purchasing cooperative r ra as authorized by Section
271.102 of the Texas Local Government Code, and
the City of Grapevine, Texas, has established Interloc I Agreement
for Cooperative Purchasing with H-GAC and wishes to utilize established contracts
meeting Il State of Texas bidding requirements; and
WHEREAS, established contract with National Bus Sales
Leasing, Inc. under contract number BT01-11 for uses-Transit&Shuttle and Tram; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas has o purchase two new 2013
- r ans 217"-3200 Navi t r buses for the Convention and Visitors Bureau to add to the
current fleet.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BYTHE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
GRAPEVINE, .
Section 1. That all matters stated in the bove preamble are true and correct
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine authorizes the purchase
of 013 -Trans 217"-3200 Navistar buses from io I Bus Sales and
Leasing, Inc. through an Interloc I Agreement or Cooperative Purchasing with H-GAC for
an amount not to c 333,040.00.
Section . That the City Manager, or his designee, is uthorize to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase of said products n services.
