SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF THE PURCHASE OF A MEDIUM DUTY DUMP
TRUCK FOR THE STREET DIVISION -
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of the purchase of a 2008 Medium Duty Dump Truck
from Grande Truck Center in the total amount of$69,210.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are budgeted in account 325-48910-415-08 Capital Equipment/Machinery and
EquipmenUStreets in the amount of$75,000.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid was advertised in the Fort
Worth Star-Te/egram on February 14, 2008 and February 21, 2008. Bids were issued to
nine vendors with two vendors responding.
This purchase is for a 2008 Medium Duty Dump Truck with a 5-6 yard dump bed. The
truck will replace a 1997 model that is over 11 years old. The replacement meets the
Fleet replacement criteria in life cycle cost and time in service. Council approved the
purchase of this truck during the budget process for this fiscal year. The Fleet
Replacement Criteria Worksheet is attached for review.
Staff solicited bids from nine vendors qualified to provide this type of commodity. Two
vendors responded. The bids were reviewed by Fleet Services Staff to insure
compliance with the specification requirements. Both of the bids received complied with
the specifications. The budgeted amount for this purchase was $75,000. The lowest bid
received was from Grande Truck Center in the total amount of $69,210. A copy of the
bid tabulation sheet is attached for review.
Staff recommends award of a purchase order to Grande Truck Center in the total
amount of $69,210.
