SUBJECT: RENEWAL OF BID 189-2004 ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR
MOWING SERVICES, LAKE PARKS
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider renewal of an annual contract to TruGreen LandCare to provide
mowing services in and around the park areas at Lake Grapevine. Annual contract
expenditures will be limited to the annual budgeted amount for this service. The original
bid tabulation is attached for review.
FUNDING:
Funds are available in account 119-44540-312-9 Lake Park Fund/Professional Services/
Lake Parks in the amount of$65,000.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter
B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a). The bid advertisement was posted in
the Grapevine Sun on May 6, 2004 and May 13, 2004.
Council originally approved this contract on June 15, 2004 as well as a first renewal
option on July 5, 2005. The purpose of the bid was to establish fixed annual pricing for
mowing, weed-eating, edging and litter removal services within the area leased from the
Corps of Engineers. The properties include Katie's Woods, The Vineyards, Sand Bass
Point, Trawick, McPherson Slough, Lakeview, Acorn Woods and Meadowmere.
Bids were issued to seven vendors with two vendors responding. The lowest bid
received from TruGreen LandCare met all bid specifications and requirements.
TruGreen LandCare has performed this service satisfactorily and agreed to renew the
contract with a 2.4% increase in pricing. The original bid tabulation is attached. The
original contract term was for 12 months with four, one-year options to extend. If
approved, this would be the second renewal period.
Staff recommends renewal of the contract award to TruGreen LandCare.
