SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO PURCHASE A UTILITY VEHICLE FOR THE
MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of the purchase of a utility vehicle from John Deere
Company for the Municipal Golf Course in the total amount of$16,949.75.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in account 325-48910-000-00-0004 Capital Equipment Machinery
Purchase Fund/Motor Vehicles/Golf.
BACKGROUND:
This purchase will be made through an existing interlocal agreement with the Houston-
Galveston Area Council (HGAC) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section
271.102. HGAC established a contract with John Deere Company under contract
number GR01-08. The Interlocal Agreement and Cooperative Purchasing Agreement
satisfy all bidding requirements under the Local Government Code.
This request is for the purchase of a 2009 John Deere Progator 2030A Diesel Utility
Vehicle for the Municipal Golf Course. The utility vehicle will replace an existing 2004
vehicle that is five years old and has over 5,000 hours. The replacement schedule for
utility vehicles is five years. Council approved the purchase of this vehicle during this
year's budget process.
Staff recommends approval of the purchase of the utility vehicle from John Deere
Company in the total amount of$16,949.75.
