HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 10 - Task Force 2 Urban Search MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER �� MEETING DATE: DECEMBER 6, 2016 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF DALLAS, TEXAS AND THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS FOR PARTICIPATION IN TEXAS TASK FORCE 2 URBAN SEARCH AND RESCUE RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of a Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Dallas, Texas and the City of Grapevine, Texas for participation as a task force member on Texas Task Force 2, Urban Search and Rescue. FUNDING SOURCE: Funding for being a member of Texas Task Force 2 is through the Task Force and continuing education training account 100-44505-210-4 (Travel, Training, & Dues). BACKGROUND: Texas Task Force 2 (TTF2)was developed to respond within the State of Texas to natural and manmade disasters. Fire department members with technical training comprise the Task Force along with structural engineers and physicians. These members come from 26 participating agencies. Texas Task Force 2 has responded to numerous requests from the Governors' office for service including the West, Texas explosion, flooding on the Blanco River and the tornados in Rowlett and Garland, to name a few. Grapevine currently has two members that are assigned to the Task Force. The Task Force is funded through the City of Dallas which is the sponsoring agency. The City of Grapevine will be reimbursed for any deployment by the City of Dallas. Participation in Texas Task Force 2 helps strengthen the resources in our community and in the region to combat the effects of natural and manmade disasters. Fire Chief recommends approval. SG
