SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO RENEW AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR TRAFFIC
CONDUIT INSTALLATION
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider renewal of an annual contract with Multiple Cable Systems, Inc.
for traffic conduit installation.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 174-43301-415-093 (PCMF
Transportation) for an estimated annual amount of $25,000.00.
BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this bid is to provide underground conduit installation for traffic signal and
electrical on an as-needed basis.
Bids were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy in 2015. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000.00. An informal bid was
issued through the City's eBid system and 769 vendors were electronically notified. Based
on the evaluation by Purchasing and Public Works staff, Multiple Cable System's bid is
responsible and responsive and the bid price is fair and reasonable for this type of service.
The contract was for an initial one-year period with four one-year optional renewal options.
If approved, this will be for the first renewal option.
Staff recommends approval.
