Minutes
Grapevine Public Library Board Meeting
January 16, 2012
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM.
Attendees: Lynda Brown, Janice Cook, Susan Peabody, Bruce Rider, Fred Sheffler, and Debbie Venable.
Chris Coy, City Council Liaison, and Janis Roberson, Library Director, were also present.
There were no citizen comments.
The minutes from the October 17, 2011 were approved.
Old Business - none
New Business
Janis shared her recent City Council presentation which was delivered as a special "Library Link!' handout. The
presentation included information about the ten years of funding grants, online resources now available to our
citizens, usage statistics, children's resources, a synopsis of 88 years of service, Friends support, volunteer hours, the
Board's five-year focus, and a discussion about the future which includes technology needs and upgrades, a new
catalog system, digital magazines and more access to e -books, more technology seminars and instruction, and a
vision for addressing the need to get more involved with our local teenagers.
Miscellaneous Reports and Discussion
A. Janis reported on Special Funds received recently. The Currie Fund gave a gift of $500 to support the children's
Tumbleweed program. The Friends of the Grapevine Public Library gave $5,757.47 for use on various library
needs.
B. The next Board Meeting is scheduled for April 16, 2012.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:00 PM.
