CITY OF GRAPEVINE
The Library Board of the Grapevine Public Library of the City of Grapevine, Texas met in
Regular Session on the 20 �' day of October, 2014 at 6:30PM in the Board Room,
Grapevine Public Library, 1201 Municipal Way, with the following members present to -wit:

constituting a quorum, with the following members of the City Staff:
Janis Roberson
Library Director
Duff O'Dell, the new City Council Liaison to this Board, was officially welcomed to tonight's
meeting.
CALL TO ORDER
Janice Cook called the meeting to order at 6:30PM.
Citizen Comments — None
Motion by Bruce Rider, seconded by Fred Sheffler, to approve the July 21, 2014 minutes
as written:
Ayes: Unanimous
Nays: None
Update on the Library Remodeling Project
The new Study }dooms remodeling work began in September and are almost complete.
Cameras are still to be ordered and installed for this area.
There was no formal action taken.
Discussion of the 2014-2015 Bud et
The Budget was approved as presented. The City Council meets October 21, 2014, to
discuss the Quality of Life topic and this will include the Library's 1500 sq.ft. Expansion
project.
There was no formal action taken.
Discussion of the New Services
Holes have now been cut in the concrete so that cables can be pulled as one of the first
major steps of the new Create It space. The City servers' update work has been started.
The Friends of the Library gave $18,200 for the purchase of new equipment for the Create

It space. The Bookmobile Project is now on the Quality of Life 2016 list.
There was no formal action taken.
Discussion on Summer Reading Program
The ten -week program was reduced to an eight-week program. This allowed a three-week
focus on "Back to School". This was a successful change and the same approach will be
used in the future. Attendance was very goad at the "SAT" for teens.
There was no formal action taken.
Discussion on Create It Space Staffin
A staff opening occurred when one staffer moved. This opening allows the opportunity to
see more technical skills in the replacement staffer. Interviews are underway. Also, the
Cataloger hours were decreased, another staffer's hours decreased for health reasons
which allows enough hours to support a thirty -hour position (now in HR for approval since
benefits will be involved.) Two part-time positions are also available. These will need
higher technical skills to support the new Create It space.
No formal action was taken.
Discussion on Miscellaneous_ Reports and or Topics.
The Board members toured the new Study Room area.
No formal action was taken.
The next quarterly board meeting is scheduled for January 19, 2010 at 6:30PM.
ADJOURNMENT
Bruce Rider, seconded by Lynda Brown, motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:03PM. The
motion prevailed by the following vote
